The Community Assistance Fund of Zion Lutheran Church is a gift from God, given in Christ Jesus for the sake of the world. God intends these funds to benefit the common good, and Christ's own love, generosity, wisdom, inclusion, and equity are values we intend to guide our stewardship of them.

Zion prioritizes making these funds available to neighbors and Zion people in need and doing so in a sustainable way, so that the fund will not be exhausted.

Zion seeks to be relational, not transactional, and to offer and invite respect and mutuality.

Zion makes these funds available to individuals and families in at least two ways:

  1. $1,200 per month for rent, utilities, and medication.
  2. Up to $1,500 per disbursement for larger expenses, like funeral costs and unexpected medical expenses.

Zion's Congregational Council empowers the Director of Outreach Ministries to administer the Community Assistance Fund and gives the Director of Outreach Ministries responsibility to report disbursements to the Pastor, Congregational Council, and Zion as a whole.
